The Maldives is a archipelago based country in South Asia, located in the Arabian Sea in the Indian Ocean. Maldives is located southwest of Sri Lanka and India, about 700 kilometers from the mainland of the Asian continent. The country has 26 atolls that stretch from north to south.
The Maldives consists of an area that covers about 298 square kilometers and is one of the world’s most geographically dispersed countries. It is also the Asian country with the least population, only 515,696 inhabitants. The country’s capital is called Malé and is the most populous city in the country.
The Maldives is often known for its chalk-white beaches, colorful fish and crystal clear turquoise waters. And of course it is, the Maldives really looks like paradise.
