The Bloc Hotel, Patong, Thailand

The Bloc Hotel is situated in the heart of Patong, located right on Patong beachfront. The hotel is accessible to many tourists attractions such as Bangla Walking Street, shopping malls, restaurants and bars.

My room was very fresh, modern and large. This time I (Rebecca) was traveling by myself but the hotel room at The Bloc Hotel would have fit two people without any problems. What you should keep in mind is that between the bathroom / shower and the room itself it is a glass wall. There are thin curtains to close if off if you want. But if you do not want to risk the other person seeing one when you shower so you may have to choose another hotel.

Transfer and welcome drinks and activities 

I had booked a transfer from the airport to the hotel for an affordable price. I had no problems at all checking in and when I did I also got drink tickets to the rooftop bar where I could order something to drink. Friendly reception staff I would say.

The Bloc Hotel in Patong also has a gym. It’s not that big but well functional for a little workout on your holiday. They have treadmills, bicycles and some weights so you can move your body a bit.

The breakfast was served at the café next to the lobby and I think it was a good breakfast that kept me full for a long time.

Central location and close to most things

At the rooftop bar you saw the nearby area and Patong beach, for those who are interested in nightlife, Bangla road is just a few minutes walk in from the hotel. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the large Jungceylon shopping center where you can buy most of what you want. It is also walking distance to several dive shops for those who want to check out some new equipment or book a trip.

What do I think?

I have nothing bad to say about the hotel, but one should be aware that the hotel is next to a “youth hotel” with surfing machine outside its building. Of course, this causes a lot of “party sounds” and screams from young adults. For me it was not a big problem as I fall asleep easily. But for those who have difficulty sleeping, bring earplugs or make sure to ask for a room on the other side of the hotel.

The Bloc Hotel also has a lift, which is very comfortable when you come with heavy suitcase and a scuba diving bag with equipment. The rooftop bar on the fifth floor gives you peace, quiet and space from all the life and movement in the streets below.
